From the early years of independence, the Ground Forces have been a guarantor of Ukrainian statehood. They ensured Ukraine’s participation in numerous peacekeeping missions and, since 2014, became the core force resisting Russian aggression and liberating Ukrainian territories.
- Ground Forces ensured Ukraine’s presence in dozens of peacekeeping missions, where Ukrainian service members saved civilians, stabilized regions, and gained vital combat and staff experience.
- With the beginning of Russia’s armed aggression in 2014, the Ground Forces were the first to engage the enemy, contain offensives, liberate Ukrainian cities, and undergo deep modernization.
- After the full-scale invasion in 2022, the Ground Forces became the central pillar of national defense, foiled the Kremlin’s blitzkrieg, and maintained the integrity of Ukraine’s defensive system.
- Ukrainian defenders saved Kyiv, held Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv, destroyed Russian forces in Chornobaivka, supported the air bridge to Mariupol, liberated Kherson and the Kharkiv region, and brought the war onto Russian soil.
- The Ground Forces mastered modern Western equipment, precision artillery, and complex drone-based solutions, integrating them into tactics and operational art.
- Together with comrades from all components of the Defense Forces, the Ground Forces destroy the enemy and defend Ukraine.
- The Ukrainian Ground Forces are the new Ukrainian army: technological, motivated, and capable of winning the war of the 21st century.
